Collaborations and MoU

 

Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), Bengaluru

School of Civil Engineering, VIT has signed an MoU with the Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), Bengaluru. To create a positive impact on our nation’s welfare, the MoU will bring many collaborative programmes and prototype demonstration units in the overall area of Environmental Engineering especially in air pollution, transportation, technology, health, and any other areas of science and policy. Dr. Jai Asundi, Director-Communication & Research and Dr. Pratima Singh, Research Scientist from CSTEP exchanged and signed the MoU.

CSIR-CENTRAL BUILDING RESEARCH INSTITUTE-ROORKEE

CSIR-CBRI and VIT shall encourage interaction between the CSIR-CBRI scientists and VITU faculty members and students through the following arrangements:

  • Exchange of personnel through deputation for limited periods as mutually agreed upon
  • Organisation of joint conferences and seminar.
  • Practical Training of VITU students at CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee.
  • Joint guidance of students /Thesis in structural Engineering, seismic Micro zonation, Geotechnical Engineering, Disaster Mitigation and Management, Environmental Engineering, Building Science & Technology, Architecture & planning and other areas of mutual interest at VITU by CSIR-CBRI Scientists and faculty of VITU as per rules and regulations of VITU.
  • Participation of CSIR-CBRI Experts in VITU programmes and events as well as participation of Faculty and students of VITU in the events to be conducted at CSIR-CBRI, based on mutual agreement and approvals of both organisations as appropriate.
  • Admission of CSIR-CBRI Scientists/Technical officers to the Post-Graduate programme (M-Tech) and PhD Programmes at VITU as sponsored candidates fulfilling the criteria for admission as prevailing at VITU during the time such admission is sought.
  • Initiation of collaborative research and submission of joint project proposals by CSIR-CBRI and VITU to external funding.

The following activities are envisaged in the areas of Geological/Geotechnical Investigations, Disaster Management and Civil Engineering.

  •  Identification and working on research and consultancy projects in the area of geo-hazard assessment and mitigation, landslide investigations,  geotechnical engineering,  micro-seismic monitoring, health monitoring of structures, etc.
  • Organizing training programmes, workshops, guest lectures, conferences and other similar activities.
  • Registration of NIRM Scientists for PhD or other higher Degrees at VIT, and extending the laboratory facilities at NIRM for the PhD students of VIT.
  •  Publication of research papers and filing of patents jointly.
 

National Environmental Engineering Research Institute - (CSIR) India

School of Civil Engineering (SCE), Vellore Institute of Technology MoU has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur, a Research Institute under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India.

The two institute will work together on various field of Environmental Engineering with a special focus on Air and Noise pollution, Water and wastewater Treatments, Monitoring, treatment & management of industrial effluents, environmental impacts and mitigations measure and find ways to solve community related environmental problems

 

DUKE UNIVERSITY, USA

  • Initiation of collaborative research on air quality measurement for sanitation technologies.
  • Pursuit of joint funded projects related to engineered technologies and health.
  • Publication of joint research papers
  • Organizing joint conferences, workshops, guest lectures, training sessions and various such events

SCE-MOU Dr. Sonia Grego (Left) Senior Research Scientist and Associate Director, Center for WaSH-AID, Duke University, Durham, USA delivered a Special Guest Lecture titled ‘Reinvented Toilets: Transformative Sanitation Technologies’ on 29 May, 2019 in the School of Civil Engineering, VIT, Vellore, at middle Mr. Praveen Rosario (13MEE0003-Alumni of SCE, VIT and working with the STeP project) and Dr. B. Srimuruganandam, Associate Professor, SCE, VIT, Vellore

 

Italian National Council for Research- Institute for the Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds (ICCON-CNR)

  • The School of Civil Engineering (SCE), Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore India has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italian National Council for Research- Institute for the Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds (ICCON-CNR), Italy for activities that include faculty and student exchange, joint research and publication.
